Brown Goshawks

Grey on head orange collar around neck greyish brown wings and tail
And yellow legs once seen to recognize them you will not  fail
Barred unders and brown breast they live Australia wide
They are medium sized hawks of the countryside
For killing chickens in backyards they are often to blame
Brown goshawks for them is their common name
On large nest of sticks high on taller tree
The female lay white eggs of  four, two or three
The females much larger than the males they hunt every day
One of Australia's most often seen medium sized birds of prey
To free range poultry breeders their raids on backyards come at a financial cost
Due to brown goshawks every year many chickens are lost
Smaller birds always mobbing them and trying to drive them from their territory
Thes hawks of the countryside that one often does see.
