The Young Sporting Hero

The young hero on the day that the cup was won
His mum and dad they were so proud of their son
He was the best on the ground on Grand Final Day
For one of eighteen he gave a sterling display
He was the young sporting hero of the town
And well on his way to far greater renown
A brown haired teenager handsome, athletic and tall
Looming ahead of him a successful career in professional football
Though yet to reach his physical prime and best as a man
But all things in life do not always go to plan
Two years ago his football career brought to a premature end
That life can have it's heartbreaks why otherwise pretend
A motor car accident has left his young body beyond repair
His mum and dad in the park pushes him in his wheelchair.
