Willy wagtails or black and white fantails never cease to surprise
They are quite aggressive birds for their size
In their territory they mob the much bigger magpies and sometimes succeed in driving them away
They are rather brave of them one can say
Also known as Australian nightingales since they sometimes can be heard singing at night
Not that shy of humans they allow you get close to them before taking to flight
With their long black tails ever wagging perhaps from the grass to flush out insect prey
They are birds one does see in backyards every day
Birds of the countryside as well as the parks of the town
From a challenge they are birds that would never back down
In cup shaped nest of grass on branch of tree
The female lay pale brown dotted eggs of two or three
Against other species their territories they do defend
And at breeding time do not even treat their own kind as a friend.
