Not The Man He Used to Be

Before time that rusts iron did become his foe
A regional champion athlete many decades ago
He is not the man that he used to be
The athlete of the year of nineteen sixty three
Then in his mid twenties in his physical prime
He has become one more of those who has lost out to time
Frail looking his thinning hair is silvery gray
He is one who has known of a better day
I often see him out walking with his devoted wife
Great grandparents she remains the love of his life
He used to run fast and now he walks slow
Eventually time on the best of them show
The athlete of the year of nineteen sixty three
He is not the man that he once used to be.
