In her prime quite a beauty those in the know say
She is ageing with grace lovely Lily Gray
A great grandmother in her early eighties her husband Bill long in his grave
A victim of leuchaemia his life doctors could not save
And though she grieved for him Lily his devoted wife
Without her soulmate she had to go on with the living of life
Wavy gray hair to her shoulders that was nugget brown
In her prime years when she was the Rose of the town
One who is well loved by all to she is known
In her one bedroom flat she lives on her own
A friendly person free of any guile or conceit
She smiles and says hello to everyone she does meet
Eighty three on her last birthday on the sixth of May
The lovely and so likeable Lily Gray.
