Strange news out of Millstreet i read of online today
Connie Coakley of the Station Road from life has passed away
This has to be fake news and is surely a lie
Since people like him are surely not born to die

It is true that time does become everyone's foe
But if Connie Coakley has died though this may not be so
Gone from Duhallow a known and loved face
Since people like him are impossible for to replace

One who knew of the countryside for miles around
Or where the den of a fox or the sett of a badger could be found
Or in the rushy field where a resting hare by day did hide
One well acquainted with Nature of the countryside

Quite a character in Duhallow Connie Coakley was well liked and well known
Do not tell me that Millstreet has lost one of it's own
It is said in the cemetery at West End his remains now lay
Though i can only believe he is living today

One with a great memory that did serve him well
He had many stories and yarns to tell
Of his great adventures in the big World out there
Maybe he has gone off for to live elsewhere

Perhaps on his trusty bicycle in the dead of night
He departed Millstreet in the dim moonlight
And out of Duhallow did pedal his way
And god only knows where he went to today.
