On where old Clara mountain as ever looks down
Perhaps i will never more see Millstreet Town
Near where i first looked on the bright lamp of day
In green old Duhallow from here far away
A stranger to many in the Town of Millstreet
Where many i knew well today i may not meet
Some of them migrated a few at home ageing today
And some at peace where the deceased are do lay
I may have left Millstreet but it followed me
And on my flights of fancy old friends i do see
Fond memories of them until death i will retain
And in my mental pictures of them young they do remain
Far north of this countryside by Warrnambool
In Millstreet Town i went to primary school
And those living i went to school with ageing women and men
A lot in the World has happened since then
We must live in the now as the wise one does say
And at the stroke of midnight the past will be today
And i only have memories of the what used to be
Of a Town in Duhallow that i may never more see..
