As young men they never went to fight in wars in Countries far away
Perhaps this is the reason that they are the forgotten of today
For the men who built the city never a street parade
So sad to say from history they have been allowed to fade
The men who built the city loved their children and their wives
Such great hard working fellows who lived honourable lives
They worked hard for the wages that their bosses to them paid
But no monument built to them and for them no fanfare played
For future generations they planted the progress seed
The men who built the city were mighty men indeed
Yet their names you will not see on any memorial wall
That they are of the forgotten does not seem right at all
They worked hard to raise their families and they earned their every pay
The men who built the city at peace forever lay
They ought to be remembered but it does seem sad to say
That the men who built the city are the forgotten of today.
