Two centuries of dispossession and oppression they have survived
Though some indigenous tribes have become extinct due to humanity's foulest crime
And have been condemned to the history of time
The indigenous people are not the rulers of their southern land
And this seems a hard thing for to understand
In the Country their ancestors had lived in for thousands of years
they do not take pride of place
That ought to be theirs as Australia's first race
Of the praises of Australia the masses may sing
But that they have never had an indigenous prime Minister or Governor General seems such a sad thing
Even for a migrant to this great southern land to have to say
But the honour of being the first Australians with them will always stay
For as long as people live in this great southern land
Yet that they are not the rulers of their Country seems hard to understand.
