Old Dave Belaroo

You can only in life do the best you can do
I am quoting the wise one old Dave Belaroo
A man who has travelled on the road to elsewhere
And worked in many a town and city in the big World out there

Without any children he knows of and without a partner or wife
Though he has had many women in his life
But Dave says since my last night of passion a few years gone by since then
And most ageing women prefer younger men

The hair on his balding head gray it used to be brown
In his late seventies he willlive his last days in his hometown
Yet for a man who has consumed lots of alcohol and worked hard he looks rather well
And of his travels he has many stories to tell

If he has any worries of them he makes light
He is always in the local pub on a Saturday night
Enjoying the fun and the beer and in the hour of song
He is happily singing in the sing along

He has worked on building sites and pipelines in many a city and town
Though he will tell you that this is no claim to renown
Back home for to live out his days where life for him began
But for one of his years he does not look an old man.
