Of The Moyne Shire

The paddocks  of the Moyne Shire are not always green
In Summer quite bare and brown they often have been
But there is beauty in the Moyne Shire at all times of year
Where the flutes of the magpies one often does hear
Named after the Moyne River that flows into the Pacific near Port Fairy Town
The Moyne shire does have many claims to renown
One of them it is home to the Gundijtmara tribe the south west's first race
To a very old culture their history they can trace
The Moyne Shire for it's coastal beauty is known Worldwide
And it's people of country does take a great pride
To drive around the Moyne Shire it would take three hours or more
As it's fertile lands stretch far inland from the ocean shore
It has been the inspiration of song, story and rhyme
And it was very old even in the Dreamtime.
