He left Annagloor as a young man
Ordained as a Catholic priest he lived for many years in Los Angeles in the U S of A
From Millstreet in distance very far away
He lived a successful life as success goes
From a priest to a monsignor up the ranks he rose
He lived to a good age ninety four years
His passing in his Los Angeles parish left many in tears
He did forego the chance of taking a wife
And of fathering children to follow his calling in life
For his religious beliefs great sacrifices by him were made
For this from memory he does not deserve for to fade
To Monsignor Donal Mulcahy credit is surely due
To his higher self in life he was one who was true
Selfless people one can say have become a rare breed
And of his sort humanity of far more is in need
Far from Annagloor where he first saw light of day
He breathed his last in los Angeles in the U S of A
A book on his life it would make a good read
Since it was by good example in life he did lead.
Miss Diane Strutz in Seattle, OR recalls the following:
ReplyDeleteFather Donal Mulcahy was strongly instrumental in preserving the love and practice of my true Catholic Faith. From 4 1/2 through First Holy Communion, Father Mulcahy guided me. He took time in the confessional to actually help me as a young child & to reason correctly on moral matters. His example in offering the Tridentine Holy Mass as well as his interaction with my kindergarten teacher, a very good religious sister, Sister Mary Joseph, are bench marks of growth and preparation that instilled the importance of the Tridentine Mass and its relationship to restoring what humanity had before the Fall.
I wish someone would interview me to give account of how these two personalities have shaped my quest to live in sync with Our Dear Lord in all we do and to pray for the restoration of the Tridentine Mass and flawless theology and truths preserved in that Mass, other Sacraments, and pre-Vatican II declarations.
Cathedral Chapel School and Church are where I attended from about 1951 until half of grade five. I came from a family ignorant of many truths of the Faith and one parent hotly opposed to it. Nevertheless, in spite of many very serious dangers and ignorance, the few but deeply influential and indelible experiences with Father Donal Mulcahy and the very elderly Sister Mary Joseph etched a guiding memory and kindergarten promise that launched a quest for Truth and love of the merciful Lord Jesus that neither a secularized novus ordo and revolutionary morphed Catholic Church could obliterate.
