The Pride Of Macroom

She was a rare beauty in her physical prime
But this is going back many Seasons in time
Beauty is quick to fade beyond it's full bloom
And she is no longer the Pride of Macroom

Her grandchildren in their twenties have lives of their own
And of better days in life she surely has known
Her ageing ex husband in England with his second wife
And she in her seventies showing the wear of life

She only has memories of the years ago
Long before time did become her foe
She often danced in the Castle Ballroom in the showband years
The happier memories has her close to tears

But for many all things in life do not go to plan
She fell in love with and married for her the wrong sort of man
Since faithful to her he never did stay
For our mistakes in life always some price to pay

When her shoulder length hair was wavy and brown
She was the Pride of old Macroom Town
With light brown hair dye she now cloaks her gray
Time from her has stolen her beauty away.
