Egotistical people are not or will never be rare
Of them on my travels i have met quite a share
In fact every day of their sort i meet a few
In this i am saying anything that is new
It is human to have ego as is all known too well
But some more so than others their egos far easier to swell
Those who uphold the rank order in every town
Look up to some and on others look down
Though their praises i never will be one to sing
In some ways i pity the egotistical as too much of ego can be a mind destroying thing
They lose out on kindness, compassion and on empathy
Three of the greater gifts of humanity
For class distinction and social rank
The egotistical in some ways we do have to thank.
