In The Groves Of Claraghatlea North

In the groves of Claraghatlea north  the birds are singing today
I fancy i can hear them in the distance far away
And in the rushy old fields where the waterways do meet
The male pheasants are crowing near the Town of Millstreet
On my many flights of fancy the memories come to me
Of my younger years in Duhallow that at most times were carefree
And the fields where i first grew to love Nature as a schoolgoing boy
And learning more about her today i do enjoy
The old fields looking resplendent in their Spring flowers
In full bloom in mild weather in the sunshine and showers
Of the fields i loved when younger only memories i retain
Though on my flights of fancy i often walk on them again
But the now is all that matters as the wise one used to say
And at the stroke of midnight the past will be today.
