On Hares

Hares are related to rabbits but otherwise different in every way
As they do not have burrows they rest in the open by day
At twilight from hiding they venture out
For to nibble on young grass and their territory for to roam about
The female hare gives birth to two to three young which she hides in different spots in the daylight
And come for to suckle them in the darkness of night
Hares much larger than rabbits and mostly russet brown
Are animals of the countryside never seen in any park of any town
Hares are fast creatures and quite skilful indeed
For to escape from predators they uses their dodging skills and their speed
I have seen them in coursing parks give the run around
To very fit and bred for speed coursing greyhounds
Yet i have also seen them killed and the pain in their death cry
Remains with me today though many years since then have gone by.
