In the twilight in the paddock to where i am near
The Lane Brothers black angus cows bellowing to their calves i do hear
Their darkness in the twilight make them impossible to see
Though they are less than three hundred metres from me
Their young calves as their mothers were born hornless and black
To their devoted parents in a weaker bellow call back
For security and love and protection a young calf can depend
On it's adoring mother as a trusting friend
The Lane Brothers cows and calves i see every day
In the big paddock from where i live just across the way
In the twilight and dark nights of them i lose sight
But i often see them as dark shadows in the moonlight
In the fading twilight with night to Illowa near
The Lane Brothers cows and calves bellowing i do hear.
