It saddens me a little for to have to say
That i would be a stranger to many in Millstreet today
Even a stranger to many in Claraghatlea my first homeplace
Where years ago mine was a familiar face
I am one who has known of a better day
Time has left me wrinkled and balding and gray
Some thirty five years past my physical prime
I am one of those on the wrong side of time
On those old streets i often did walk up and down
A stranger to many now in Millstreet Town
Where many young locals of me would say
This old fellow he must be from far away
Where many looked on me as one of their own
Today to most people there i would not be known.
