The Old Brown Creek

Many kilometres from the nearest rural town
The old creek in it's tongue of brown
Flows onwards towards the river night and day
That flows to the Pacific far away
The inspiration of song, story and rhyme
By the old creek that was old in the Dreamtime
The Country's first people had their corroborees
On Summer evenings in the shade of the trees
The first people from their first homes have gone
But the old brown creek as ever babbles on
Through the old countryside that has Seasons of green and brown
In kilometres far from the nearest country town
On it's journey to the far Pacific shore
That is destined to last forever more.
