Until My Last Living Day

I am one of those who does pen reams of rhyme
Many pages of stuff over decades of time
I wrote my first rhymes where old Clara looks down
On the green countryside west of Millstreet Town
I say once again what I have often said before
That I write rhymes for enjoyment and little else more
Without any desire for money or fame
As a writer mine to many is not a known name
As a young man I hoped I might become a poet
One who would live as worthy of literary note
But daydreams are just that and seldom come true
And what we wish for seldom becomes our due
But despite my lack of success I hope I will stay
Penning rhyme until my last living day.
