Mother And Son

The young hereford bull calf in the paddock out there
Lives on the milk from his mother's udder he hasn't a care
She feeds him and licks him and of him takes care
The bond between mother and offspring all creatures with humans do share

His mother to him is his greatest friend
On his very existence on her he depend
With lots of milk to drink he is quite happy for now
His red white faced mother is a kind and loving cow

The sturdy young calf with the big white face
Does carry the genes of his bred for beef bovine race
Will he become a herd bull does seem hard to say
Only for the near perfect specimens a farmer big money will pay

Who knows what the future for him will hold
For every year many calves are born but few live to grow old
A pure bred young bull with a physical flaw a farmer for breeding purposes unable to sell
Of time most young bull calves do not have a long spell

The young hereford bull is happy today
As around his grazing mother he does romp and play
When hungry he goes to her udder for a liquid feed
of any of life's good things he is not in need.
