With your own self you have got to begin
If you do not have peace in your own mind
To others you cannot be compassionate and kind
If everybody were at peace with themselves there would no wars today
But this is not the case which does seem sad to say
It is in those who do not have inner peace that wars do begin
If everybody were at peace with themselves there would not be wars to win
We hear of and read of the great leader who sent his Country's troops to war
To fight against his enemies in a Land afar
But it is of no comfort to the dead soldier's mother when the war has been won
When the Last Post is played for her noble young son
The war leader with himself is not at peace
Though in war for some of his anger he has found release.
