And he sung between drinks the old balladeer
And always for him there was a loud encore
As the patrons they begged him for to sing some more
Such a marvelous character old Balladeer Bill
One who rendered old songs with great vocal skill
An aged grandfather since the death of Bella his wife
Local pub entertaining his hobby in life
A balding old fellow his hair silver gray
One who did make the most of his every day
In his working life as a carpenter he earned his pay
A man who lived his life in an honorable way
One who was liked by many and locally was well known
And in the pub he was honored as one of their own
One who knew the words of many an old song
And always the leader in the pub sing along
In the town cemetery he is with his wife Bella today
Such a marvelous old character of him one can say
In the local pub he has drunk his last beer
And sung his last song Bill the old Balladeer.
