The praises of youth by many are sung
But it is surely a fallacy only the good do die young
Since so many good people do live to die old
And the stories of their lives deserve to be told
So many good people from their hometown never travelled far
And in their younger years never fought in a war
Though good and honourable people in their own way
They are not the admired of the World of today
The wealthy and famous so many admire
And just to be like them in life their desire
It has never been a World for the poor after all
Their names never seen as worthy of recall
But that the good only die young is based on a lie
Since many good people of old age do die.
