The first day of the southern calendar Spring
The first day of September such joy with it does bring
The sun brightly shining and warmth in the breeze
And the nesting birds singing on the bushes and trees
With such pleasant weather how can one complain
The countryside green after the recent rain
The capeweed in full bloom in petals of gold
And the daisies in the sunshine a joy to behold
Some of the best things in life as is said are free
So good to be living another Spring to see
A familiar songster for the time of year
The song of a blackbird so pleasant to hear
And on a beautiful afternoon of around nineteen degrees
The warblings of the magpies is carrying in the breeze.
