The males not lacking in beauty of black, yellow, white and green
The females duller in their colouring birds in south eastern Australia sometimes seen
In woodland and parks and gardens where there are trees the males for their whistling songs well known
The birds known as golden whistlers do have ways of their own
In flimsy cup shaped nest of grass on fork of branch of tree
The female lay cream brown dotted eggs of two or sometimes three
Sparrow sized birds admired for their beauty and their pleasant whistling song
Once you hear them and you see them you will never more get them wrong
They never live in large flocks in pairs or alone them i often see
It does seem golden whistlers like their own company
In their range a fairly well known species of the whistler family
Though i have yet to see them in a cage or aviary
They live on insects and spiders they find among the trees
And in Spring their ever pleasant whistling song does carry in the breeze.
