When i said hello to him he had nothing to say
No room for a smile on his rather stern face
In his mind for joy perhaps not any space
His dog a black labrador in a gesture of friendship with a wagging tail said hello
Unlike his master who ignored me as if i were his foe
The dog unlike his owner seemed happy in his friendly way
He wagged his tail at me wishing me a good day
Perhaps the man did have problems in his life
Maybe this morning he had an argument with his partner or wife
And on his problems he did silently brood
And for talking to anyone he was not in the mood
The dog wagged his tail at the sound of my voice
But his master in any way did not seem nice
Perhaps things in his life were not going okay
And he was not in the mood for smiling today
