Of my first homeplace from here far north and far away
I only do have fading memories today
Though those i knew then as young in my memory remain
I may not recognize them if i ever meet them again
And they too may also not recognize me
We change as we age is how it seems to be
In Claraghatlea my first home close to Millstreet Town
Perhaps i will never more see a sunrise or sundown
Far south of there time has left me looking gray
No doubt i have seen many a better day
Today i would be a stranger where i was well known
Where many looked on me as one of their own
But we live in the now as the wise one does say
And at the stroke of midnight the past will be today.
