On Common Mynas

Introduced from India's big cities such a Delhi and Bombay
In the suburbs of Melbourne birds seen every day
Of yellow legs, yellow bills, dark heads and tails and mostly light brown
Though seen in the countryside mostly birds of the town
To the birds known to dispossess other species they do belong
They are unmistakeable in their rough sort of song
Indian or common mynas one does see in every Melbourne street
The small native species for nesting sites they outcompete
In Australia they have been described as the cane toads of the air
But such a description of  them does not seem at all fair
In Melbourne it does seem they are for to stay
As they are Nature's survivors of them one can say
For their adaptability and survival skills they are well known
Quite hardy birds with ways of their own.
