From Such Admiration

These big screen and t v personalities so many admire
And of singing their praises never seem to tire
From such admiration big egos are grown
By people who do not seem to have lives of their own

These rappers and rock stars and pop stars we hear all about
Their fans in their delirium their love for them shout
I must not be with it an odd ageing man
Not to have any celebrity as a fan

Fan worship big egos in the celebrities inspire
There are those born to be admired and those born to admire
Since they have thousands of people chanting their name
For their swollen egos them one hardly can blame

Their fans in their thousands their praises do sing
Making small gods of mortals to many their in thing
The celebrities to millions are the egotistical to me
Suppose we all cannot be celebrity fans is how it seems to be

In a World where millions are living in extreme poverty
The egotistical celebrities are day and night on t v
Their fans may be in the millions but in truth I can say
That any humility from their sort does seem far away

To any celebrity fan club I never belong
Many my way of thinking would see as all wrong
But then a weed to many to a few is a rose
And everyone not born to be a celebrity or a celebrity fan one does have to suppose.
