Johnny And Belinda Lee

Happiness can sometimes end in sadness this is how life seems to be
This was how it was with my old neighbours Johnny and Belinda Lee
Great grandparents they were in their early eighties devoted husband and wife
Belinda was so devoted to Johnny and she was the love of his life

Sixty years married and happy together they had many memorable years
In our lives the happiest of memories can often give rise to tears
Last year Belinda did suddenly feel ill in the ambulance to the hospital of a heart attack she died
Poor Johnny for his deceased wife is grieving from grief there is nowhere to hide

Sometimes I see him  in the park walking he is always on his own
On his wrinkled face the look of sadness of far happier times he has known
He and Belinda did socialize often but at home now he does stay
In the local pub he has not been seen once since his dear wife passed away

Many of life's happier stories do not have happy endings only the memories with Johnny stay
Of Belinda the great love of his life her remains in the cemetery lay
Memories of her are all that he now has for as long as he lives to retain
That life's happiest stories often have a sad ending does not seem hard to explain.
