On Sooty Oystercatchers

A dark feathered crow sized shore bird of long red bill and red legs and bright red eyes
For sea side birds bigger than average size
That one does not see often at least not every day
Quite wary of humans of them one can say
As birds go not well known and strangers to fame
Sooty Oystercatchers for them is their common name
Not as well known as their black and white cousins the familiar pied
Sooty Oystercatchers  have become quite rare Worldwide
In pig face on the ground the female bird lay
Two or three well camouflaged umber eggs from predators well hidden away
Bivalve molluscs to their taste buds quite a tasty treat
That they can open with their strong bills for to eat
They are rather wary and seem rather shy
And never seem  happy with humans nearby.
