A blackbird sized brown and grey bird of humans not shy
a grey shrike thrush is whistling on the trees nearby
Once seen and once heard their kind you never again do get wrong
They do have a beautiful whistling song
Familiar birds with ways of their own
To most country people grey shrike thrushes are quite well known
These feathered minstrels of Nature quite pleasant to hear
Their beautiful whistling so melodious and clear
Unmistakeable in their whistling of them one can say
Birds I do not see often or hear every day
Just after sundown on the nearby trees
The sound of their whistling is carrying in the breeze
One can say of them they are whistlers supreme
Their equals in the bird World are few it does seem.
