Sunshine in a blue sky on a beautiful day
A cool coastal breeze blowing uphill from the bay
The blackbirds are singing their October melodies
And the warbling of the magpies carrying in the breeze
Resplendent in bloom dark eyed yellow cape flowers
In their full beauty after recent Spring showers
Crowded in their millions they make for an amazing sight
Their petals open to the warm sunlight
The sun on their dark wings chirping as they fly
The swallows are chasing flying insects in the sky
With young to feed in their mud nest under house eaves nearby
Their title of fastest of flight of them none can deny
So much beauty for an artist to sketch or a writer to write about
In this beautiful place in the far coastal south
In the breeze the sweet scent of grass mowed for silage or hay
And the contented cattle in the sunshine chewing their cuds do lay
The countryside green after the recent rain
With such pleasant weather one ought not to complain
In early October near the prime of the Spring
Such joy in her beauty Nature to us does bring.
