Such beautiful parrots of crimson, blue and mottled brown
Birds you may not see in the park of a city or a big town
Graceful and beautiful in their own distinctive way
In wooded places in small flocks one sees them often though not every day
Crimson rosellas have a soft piping song
Once seen and once heard you never again get them wrong
So beautiful to look at with a charm of their own
In their range they are birds that are well loved and well known
High in a tree cavity the female bird lay
Three to five eggs sometimes more of a palish grey
In woods and near where trees are they like to reside
Not that territorial they range far ad wide
Once seen mental pictures of them with you will remain
And you will recognize them when you see them again
A small flock of them on a sunlit tree
As beautiful a sight as one could wish for to see.
