What a pleasant way for Jenny White for her working day to begin
In her backyard a clucking lay away black feathered hen
Had seven newly born chickens with her to display
A thing for to bring joy to anyone's day
Reminds me of Hen's Nest a poem from the pen of the great poet John Clare
With the beauty seen in Nature there is none to compare
What Jenny see she could scarce believe her eyes
In her backyard for her such a marvellous surprise
Seven little chickens some black some white and one brown
Born into life not far from Koroit Town
In a backyard in Southern Cross
All for the pleasure of Jenny and Ross
Such beauty in Nature every day one does see
A beauty to view always monetary free
And Nature every day some new joy to us does bring
In changeable October in the prime of the Spring
For Jenny in the morning in her backyard a welcome sight
Seven fluffy chickens born to life overnight
With their mother scratching for insects for them in the earthy ground
And by her legs where she was scratching they were milling around.
