In his early eighties his balding head silver grey
Old Davy has known of a far better day
But young in his mind at the pub laughter he often provoke
He is rather humorous as well as a tough old bloke
Twelve times a great grand dad his seed in the town will live on
Long after the last breath of life from him has gone
Though the passing of time on his body does tell
For one of his years he looks healthy and well
Ten years ago divorced by Cindy his wife
With another man she will live out her life
She grew tired of being alone at home whilst Davy was in the pub
Or drinking with his younger mates in the barroom of the football club
In the pub he always enjoys the Saturday evening session of song
And he is always singing in the sing along
A likeable fellow in his own charming way
The type who does make a new friend every day
He is always smiling of cares he seems free
And he does look well for one of eighty three
One well known and well liked on his side of the town
It has been many years since his hair was dark brown.
