She said to me why do you write every day
Without recognition or the reward of pay
If i told her it is something i enjoy doing she would not comprehend
Just one of many to me who could not be a friend
One of those who with others who for material success compete
An acquaintance of mine that i do not often meet
Her unsolicited advice i never ask for or need
Of her type one can say no shortage indeed
And everytime we meet her advice to me is the same
Since in rhyming for you there is no money or fame
With words why do you even bother to play
It is about time that you gave doggerelizing away
Meeting her never brings joy to my day
But at least for her advice i do not have to pay.
