Peewee peewee peewee is all they have to say
These medium sized black and white birds that are seen every day
Known as magpie larks or mudlarks and known to many as peewee
They are birds one does often hear and very often see
Though similar in colour the male from the female not hard to differentiate
He has more dark under his throat than his white under the throat mate
They build a cup shaped nest of mud high on fork of branch of tree
Where the female lay pale pink blotched eggs of four or five or three
Their heads seem ever bobbing as they walk around
Searching for tiny insects that they find on the ground
As the male does call out peewee his wings he always raise
The habits of the wild creatures of Nature never cease to amaze
Magpie larks are familiar birds to people of Australia wide
In city and town parks and gardens and paddocks and backyards of the countryside
Familiar in appearance and their peewee song
Birds from once seen and once heard you never again do get wrong.
