Port Fairy in April in the gloam of the day
The silver gulls above Griffith Island are mewing in the twilight gray
The freshening breeze from the ocean in it hs a slight chill
And the black and white magpies with the silvery musical bill
Are warbling high on the park trees
Their distinctive music carrying in the breeze
In the park by the ocean every day of the year
The sharp caws of the little ravens one often does hear
And the ibis the white and the straw necked on the norfolk pine roost for the night
On the coastal wetalnds by day quite a common sight
With their long bills they probe for slugs and earth worms in the soft ground
In large flocks they always do seem to abound
A cool breeze from the ocean blowing after sundown
Of Port Fairy in April an old coastal Town.
