We are in the age of the celebrity
In sports, politics and entertainment we read of and hear of every day
Of those known to be successful in quite a big way
Money and admiration in the celebrities cause egos to swell
Too much praise can go to the head of the praised one as we all know too well
Since so many of singing their praises never seem to grow tired
It must be hard to remain humble for the greatly admired
It is hard to remain humble for the one with a famous name
Since the ego does find it hard to cope with fame
When praise goes to the head it is not good for the soul
And the ego when swollen on the gentler human feelings take toll
We are in the age of the celebrity in the twenty first century
But too much praise is not good for the ego is how it seems to be.
