And the wildborn nesting birds whistle and sing
And the cattle out of farmyard sheds from months of living on silage and hay
On nutritious young grass are gaining weight by the day
The fields lush and green resplendent in their Nature's flowers
Blooming in the sunshine after mild April showers
And the dippers are singing in the waterway
They will have their young for to feed in May
The migratory bird a nest parasite that is known for it's song
The cuckoo by it's voice cannot be got wrong
Her egg in the nest of a small bird she does lay
And cuckoo cuckoo is all it has to say
Four hungry fox cubs outside of their den
Feasting on a gift from their mother a well fed hen
That in a nearby backyard she did kill
Free range fowl owners wish on every fox ill
With Summer approaching and warmer days near
April in the Northlands is a nice time of year
The wildborn nesting birds whistle and sing
Nature to April such beauty does bring.
