Few cars, trucks and buses on the Western Highway
Are passing through Beaufort on a warm Christmas Day
The sun is glowing warm in a sky blue and grey
A warm Town in Summer of this one can say
The undulating countryside looking quite brown
From weeks of warm weather around Beaufort Town
The weathert temperatures well over thirty degrees
It is even quite warm in the shade of the trees
The air full of the buzzing of bush flies and bees
And the locust plagues flying in the warm breeze
They devour grass and crops and growing vegetables this much of them i do know
In Summer their numbers to billions do grow
In the undulating countryside around Beaufort only the trees looking green
On a warm Christmas Day in the year twenty nineteen.
