In The Drought Stricken Land

In the drought stricken Land where it has not rained for years
There is not any laughter only suffering and tears
For the families and friends of the people who of malnutrition have died
Any crops have not grown for years in the bare and dry countryside

Where people of malnutrition are dying every day
Only simple timber crosses to mark the graves where the dead lay
To erect grave stones for them their relatives do not have the money to pay
Poor people who only know of life in the hardest way

I may not be wealthy but of food i am not in need
And compared to them i am quite lucky indeed
To be born in the wrong place is never a crime
And few of them can expect to live to their physical prime

The hungry babe suckles on her malnourished mother's breast
This is her fourth child hunger has claimed the rest
She will be lucky if she and her child will survive
Until  the next food truck to their village arrive

Hardship and hunger and suffering of they only know
In the drought stricken Land where any crops cannot grow
Their animals of hunger have died years ago
That they do not have life choices happens to be so.
