The Allow bank high in flood waters of brown
Flows with a loud babble through old Kanturk Town
In the cold and windy morning of a January day
Towards the Blackwater River raging on it's way
In weather temperatures just above zero degrees
The cold wind is soughing in the bare deciduous trees
In the Town of Kanturk cars and shoppers are few
In January in Duhallow not a good month for business is not saying what is new
Kanturk in north Cork in the green countryside
In Spring and Summer has visitors from places far and wide
But in Kanturk Town in January a tourist is a rare sight
And the roadways in and out of it are rather quiet
In Kanturk Town on a cold morning in January
Few people out shopping on the streets one does see.
