It Hardly Should Matter

It hardly should matter to you anyway
If you are not remembered in your first hometown today
The few you grew up with there would not welcome you back
When they would  realize of money that you are in lack
Though happiness in life to them it does not bring
Money to them is a most important thing
You left there thirty years ago when you were twenty two
And years of absence from there would have made a stranger there of you
But after a few drinks you feel nostalgia for the what used to be
Before you left there for the bigger World for to see
Absence makes the heart grow fonder as some are known to say
At times this is how it is with you anyway
With a few drinks in you do think of the past
But these fleeting moments with you do not last.
