An online photograph on the Millstreet web site of a man i used to know
Dan Hallisey on his donkey cart going down through Minor Row
On one of Sean Radley's journeys back in time
In the nineteen seventies when Dan was well past his life's prime
Dan Hallisey back then had known of a far better physical day
Yet one before his time as Sean in his comment did say
He left a tiny carbon footprint for to give him his due
Since to a simple way of life he was one who lived true
Respect to the memory in a photograph Sean Radley did pay
Of one who lived his life in quite a humble way
He never once did brag or verbally offend
Two of the many reasons he never was short of a friend
One who passed from life many Seasons ago
And lived until he died without making a foe
When he lived many changes in Millstreet since then
And a few generations have grown into women and men
One who never craved financial success or renown
A photo of Dan Hallisey and his donkey in old Millstreet Town
A reminder of what the future yet well may be
That history repeat itself some do agree
It is thanks to Sean Radley for inspiring this rhyme
And taking us back through the Seasons of time
To an old Millstreet character from Duhallow long gone
A friend to the good Earth that he did live on.
