Tower Hill

On a wattle tree in Tower Hill Of the Peek Wurrong
A magpie is warbling his familiar song
It's links to an indigenous tribe one of it's claims to renown
This large volcanic crater close to Koroit Town

This historical spot in the Moyne Shire coastal countryside
Is visited by tourists from places far and wide
Surrounded by volcanic cliffs with a mystery of it's own
The date of it last volcanic eruption remains as unknown

Home to emu, koala and wallaby and grey kangaroo
And echidna, long billed corella and yellow tailed black cockatoo
For the Peek Wurrong a tribe of indigenous race
Up to a few centuries ago a favourite meeting place

Tower Hill that has inspired great artists like Eugene Von Guerard and the writers of song, story and rhyme
In appearance would not have changed much through the centuries of time
Where the last of the Peek Wurrong people in their hidden graves lay
Their myths and their legends are living today

Of tourist cars and buses from places far and near
The steep and narrow road winding around Tower Hill busy at all times of year
A World renowned volcanic crater and a sacred and historical place
With strong links to a tribe of an indigenous race.
