Many of Australia's highways and byways he has been up and down
The likeable man of Duhallow's Newmarket Town
Of his Australian travels he had many stories to tell
At the weekends in the barroom of the Clifton Hill Hotel
But going back the years this does seem long ago
And time that does age would have become his foe
Perhaps from Fitzroy in Melobourne he now lives far away
He may even be back home in Newmarket today
Dark haired and friendly and quite a handsome bloke
One who could laugh at and tell a good joke
Back in the late eighties in his physical prime
Perhaps nowadays he would be showing the wear of time
In the Clifton Hill pub in the weekends back then
Of the young nubile women one of the favourite men
Cannot say if he settled down with a long term partner or wife
Or if he is living the nomadic single life
Perhaps around Fitzroy he did not stay
And where he might be now i just cannot say
It was his love of travel that brought him far south
Of Newmarket and the fields of the badger and waterways of the brown trout.
