Yellow Robins

On fringes of woodlands in south eastern Australia a regular sight
Their song though repetitive a natural delight
Grey head, back and tail and yellow unders yellow robins their name
Compared to many other birds they almost seem tame

In beautiful cup nest of bark on low branch of fork of tree
The female lay green pink spotted eggs of two or three
Distinctive from other birds with quiet ways of their own
To country people of wooded areas they are well known

Yellow robins close to ground clinging to trunk of tree
Watching for crawling insects one often does see
They quiely fly down and capture their prey
To hunt by stealth their natural way

Just before dawn and at twilight they often does sing
It seems song with them is a territorial thing
Of human kind they do not seem all that shy
Yellow robins the name that they are known by.
